2011 Season Kicks off

The 2011 CFL Season kicks off tonight with BC taking on the Grey Cup champion Alouettes. Montreal comes into the start of the season with a less than impressive 57-20 loss to Hamilton in their final preseason tune up, and with the loss of Avon Colbourne in the backfield, the Lions will likely be sitting back waiting on Anthony Cavillo's passes.

Are you ready for some football?

The 2011 season is nearly upon us, and with it a pledge that I'll try to keep this site more active.

The 2011 draft was this past weekend, and you can see the results here http://www.cfl.ca/canadian_draft/list?year=2011.

First game of the season is June 30th, with BC visiting Montreal, with the pre-season kicking off June 15th.

Any CFL lovers out there with the time, love and inclination to help out on this site? If so, email me at 3rddowngamble@gmail.com

Riders Blue Bombed in Winnipeg

Saskatchewan 2 - Winnipeg 31.

The Riders only managed 199 yards of total offense, and their defensive line let Winnipeg blow through them for over 200 yards rushing. Not a good combination to expect a win.

BC on the rebound, Als win without Calvillo

Montreal 27 - Hamilton 6.

Adrian MacPherson pulled off the win for the Alouettes in Anthony Calvillo's absence, leading Montreal with 238 yards and a TD as the Als dominated the Tiger-Cats 27-6 in week 11.

The Alouettes got over 400 yards of total yardage in that game.

Calgary Dominates Edmonton Again

Calgary 36 - Edmonton 20.

While the score looked more respectable, on the field it may have been even worse. Calgary racked up over 600 yards of offense, including over 200 yards rushing, while holding Edmonton off the field for over 40 minutes.

Edmonton remains in last in the West, and I'm not seeing any bright spots for them. Something may need to change, and soon!

Week 11 Picks

Sorry, its been another busy busy week, and haven't had time to do a blurb on each game.

I'll just make my predictions here. I expect Calgary, Hamilton, BC, and Saskatchewan to pick up wins in week 11.

Good luck everyone!

East up for Grabs - Edmonton Pummeled.

Toronto 13 - Hamilton 28.

Hamilton moved into a tie for second in the east with their hated rival Toronto by defeating those same Argonauts on Monday in their traditional Labour day matchup.

The Tiger-Cats defense picked off Cleo Lemon 3 times in that game, and now the tabbys have won 4 straight and sit just two points behind Montreal who they play next game.

Riders add to Blue Bombers woes

Winnipeg 23 - Saskatchewan 27.

Winnipeg now holds the dubious distinction of having the leagues longest losing streak, after both Edmonton and BC picked up recent wins. That stretch continued yesterday in their labour day classic matchup against the Riders.

Missing Calvillo - BC Romps over Als

BC 38 - Montreal 17.

Chris Leak got his first career start, but we see that Anthony Calvillo may just BE the Alouettes. Leak went 15 for 27 with 2 interceptions, and no TD's; Ricky Santos also saw action.

BC got off a huge winless string and climbed back into the BC basement with Edmonton, tho the Eskies have a game in hand.
